What is this project?

Homesewn is a farming and cooking game where you take the role of Tulip, a home cook looking to start her own home cooking business. Cultivate and harvest many different crops and cook them in interactive mini games to make delicious recipes, meet the local vendors who will sell you cooking products, take food requests from customers, and compete in cooking competitions to increase your home restaurant's reputation!

The Idea

This game is meant to be a mix of 'Cooking Mama' and 'Harvest Moon' with a slight twist! Not only are you farming and cooking, but you must compete in cooking competitions to progress in the story. So far this game is a work in progress, but what we have so far is something special!

Step 01

Research & Ideation

When thinking about how we wanted our game to stand out from all the other cozy farming games, I thought of an aspect I've always loved in-game, but that was never fully fleshed out. That is the cooking aspect. When researching most cooking farming games, none really had a fleshed-out cooking system or even a full competition, and that's what we aim to create with our game.

Step 02

Writing & World-Building

Homesewn is meant to be chill and make you giggle, with silly moments, bright colors and a plushie/arts & crafts theming in the world.

Step 03

Building & Animating

Everything is going to be drawn in Procreate, broken down into different parts and then rigged inside of Blender to be animated. This so that it's easier in the future to add the same rigs onto different characters.

Playtesting & Polish
